Last weekend was a big milestone for me — I hosted my very first two-tour day in Holland, Michigan! In the morning, I led a brand-new Historic Walking Tour of Downtown Holland, and later that afternoon, I switched gears for my West Michigan Brew Tour. To make things a little more interesting (and maybe to test my endurance), I wore a 20-pound ruck the entire time. It definitely added a new layer of challenge, but honestly — it was a blast.

I’ll admit, I was a little nervous going into the day. It was my first history tour ever, and doing two tours back-to-back felt like a big step. What really added to the excitement was that my morning group was made up entirely of Holland locals. I wanted to make sure I could show them something new about their own city — little stories, historic spots, and details that even longtime residents might not have noticed.

By the end of the tour, I could tell they genuinely enjoyed it. They told me they’d learned a lot about their hometown and even left me a 5-star review on Viator. That feedback meant a lot — especially coming from locals who know this place so well.

After a quick lunch and a bit of recovery, it was time to jump into the afternoon brew tour. Switching from history and architecture to local beer and conversation is one of my favorite parts of this job. Both tours bring out different sides of Holland — its deep roots and its creative, community-driven spirit.

By the end of the day, I was tired, sure — but more than that, I was proud. It was one of those moments that reminded me why I started these tours in the first place: to share stories, connect with people, and show off the best of Holland in new and fun ways.

If you’re ever in Holland and want to explore the city — whether through its history or its breweries — I’d love to have you join me on a tour. Every group brings its own energy, and I can’t wait to see who I’ll meet next.
